BDA/ERRCS installation, testing & maintenance to meet HFD (Houston Fire Department) and HPD (Houston Police Department) first responder radio coverage requirements. Licensed. Local. Fast.
Houston Ordinance Enforcement Is Active. Buildings over 50,000 sq ft or 3+ stories may be required to have a compliant BDA system — or face occupancy violations. Don't wait for a failed inspection.
Is Your Building at Risk?
Under IFC Section 510 and Houston Fire Code, many properties are legally required to maintain in-building emergency radio coverage — also known as an ERRCS (Emergency Responder Radio Coverage System). Here's who that affects.
Any building over 75 feet in height is subject to first responder radio coverage requirements in the Houston area.
Buildings with significant square footage — particularly those with underground levels or dense construction materials — may block signal.
Underground and multi-level garages frequently fail signal coverage tests and are among the most cited properties.
Modern building materials like low-e glass and metal framing are strong signal blockers. New builds often require BDA systems from the start.

The BDA contractor walks the building, tests signal levels, and gives you a straight answer on what you need.
The BDA contractor designs the system to code, pulls permits, and installs. You'll know the timeline and total cost before any work begins.
The BDA contractor runs the acceptance test with the fire marshal, documents everything, and hands you a compliant, signed-off system.
Houston BDA Requirements
Houston BDA work requires specific technical credentials and local knowledge. Below are the core requirements every Houston BDA installation must meet to pass acceptance testing and receive Certificate of Occupancy.
FCC General Radiotelephone Operator License (GROL) is required to program and adjust commercial BDA systems. This federal credential covers public safety frequency programming and amplifier gain configuration.
Houston BDA systems must be programmed for the specific HFD and HPD radio frequencies in use — including UHF, VHF, dispatch, tactical, and mutual-aid channels. Generic templates don't pass acceptance testing.
Sign-off requires a complete documentation package — RF signal test data at every grid point, as-built system drawings, FCC Part 90 compliance documentation, and an acceptance test report formatted to AHJ standards.
