BDA Houston is a referral service that matches you with vetted, licensed BDA/ERRCS contractors across the Houston area. Tell us about your building and get matched with the right pro for installation, testing, inspection, and HFD/HPD compliance.
Houston Ordinance Enforcement Is Active. Buildings over 50,000 sq ft or 3+ stories may be required to have a compliant BDA system — or face occupancy violations. Don't wait for a failed inspection.
Is Your Building at Risk?
Under IFC Section 510 and Houston Fire Code, many properties are legally required to maintain in-building emergency radio coverage — also known as an ERRCS (Emergency Responder Radio Coverage System). Here's who that affects.
Any building over 75 feet in height is subject to first responder radio coverage requirements in the Houston area.
Buildings with significant square footage — particularly those with underground levels or dense construction materials — may block signal.
Underground and multi-level garages frequently fail signal coverage tests and are among the most cited properties.
Modern building materials like low-e glass and metal framing are strong signal blockers. New builds often require BDA systems from the start.
What Our Network Provides
From initial signal survey to annual compliance testing, every phase of your BDA requirement is covered.
A full RF signal walkthrough of your building identifies coverage gaps using calibrated test equipment, so you know exactly what's required.
Learn More →Custom system design to meet HFD/HPD frequency requirements with proper donor antenna placement and coverage mapping.
Learn More →Professional installation of amplifiers, antennas, and cabling, completed to code with full attention to compliance.
Learn More →The acceptance test required by the fire marshal is prepared, run, and fully documented for your permit files.
Learn More →Required annual NFPA 1225 testing with signed documentation and a maintenance agreement to keep your system in spec year over year.
Learn More →Failed a recent inspection? Existing systems are diagnosed, faulty components repaired or replaced, and your building brought back into compliance fast.
Learn More →The distributed antenna network that carries first-responder signal to every floor, stairwell, and basement — designed and installed as part of your system.
Learn More →Houston buildings answer to both the fire code (ERRCS) and NFPA 1225 (ERCES). Both standards are satisfied and verified on the same system.
Learn More →Confused by the terminology? A plain-English guide to how BDA, DAS, ERRCS, and ERCES fit together — and what your building actually needs.
Learn More →How It Works
Three steps. No surprises, no runaround — just a clear path from survey to sign-off.
A licensed contractor walks the building, tests signal levels, and gives you a straight answer on what you need.
They design the system to code, pull permits, and install. You'll know the timeline and total cost before any work begins.
They run the acceptance test with the fire marshal, document everything, and hand you a compliant, signed-off system.
Houston BDA Requirements
Houston BDA work requires specific technical credentials and local knowledge. Below are the core requirements every Houston BDA installation must meet to pass acceptance testing and receive Certificate of Occupancy.
FCC General Radiotelephone Operator License (GROL) is required to program and adjust commercial BDA systems. This federal credential covers public safety frequency programming and amplifier gain configuration.
Houston BDA systems must be programmed for the specific HFD and HPD radio frequencies in use — including UHF, VHF, dispatch, tactical, and mutual-aid channels. Generic templates don't pass acceptance testing.
Sign-off requires a complete documentation package — RF signal test data at every grid point, as-built system drawings, FCC Part 90 compliance documentation, and an acceptance test report formatted to AHJ standards.
